For your info: Recently (year 2024), Indonesia has lifted a 20-year-old ban on sea sand exports, a measure that could help land expansion projects in neighbour Singapore. Indonesia first scrapped sea sand exports in 2003 and reaffirmed that in 2007 in a move against illegal shipments. Before the ban, Indonesia was Singapore's major supplier of sea sand for land expansion, shipping more than 53 million tonnes on average per year between 1997 to 2002.
