Though is an online business but proper small office with some storage space will be most ideal for this business unless you are comfortable to have customer visiting your home if you prefers home based (home based save rental of min $6k annually which means additional $6k profit). This is because the customers are not restricted to online purchases only. There are many that still feels more secured to see physical product and prefer cash & carry which means higher profit margin not cutting commission to platforms. I also do installation for car dashcam at additional labour charge which is pure profit. As I only have a small office not a workshop, installation is usually done at the open carpark of my office building unless raining which will have to shift to a nearby multi-storey carpark. Or customer may also request for mobile installation at additional charges. So it will be added advantage if you have a auto workshop.

I am running a one man show as a side business, mainly sell & install car dashcam and TPMS that can earn min $30~40k net profit annually. I also owns a motorcycle video camera registered trademarks brand. Profitability 25~200% for direct sales depending on product, and profit 20~80% after platforms commission cuts if sales made via Qoo10 or webstore etc. 70~80% of sales is via Qoo10.sg. Sales of dashcam and TPMS alone on contributes majority of the profit. Around $130K sales annually was made with about $80~100k sales was via Qoo10.sg. Net profit earning after rental and stock was $43k for 2015 and $30k for 2016 (a slow year for most business but not bad for a side business). The figures provided is annual average as monthly income differ, sometime more sometimes less. I am a conservative person and never intend to expand the business since I am already contented with how much I am earning. If you are ambitious, hard working and increase the products line or even expand with workers, $60~120k annual profit earning is no problem.

It took me more than 3years starting from scratch to become a now established online business and Qoo10 Power seller status. Being a one man show, there is only this much I can do. And sadly I do not trust having any partnership (due to bad experience) and neither do I trust hiring workers. So with my medical conditions, it is a matter of time that I can no longer handle the business like before and I do not want to see my business go wasted.
